See the
night sky dance, shimmer and amaze with magnificent
colour and movement!
On this Aurora Viewing Tour, you will
have the opportunity to experience the thrill of viewing
the Aurora Borealis. A rare natural beauty that is common
to our northern region.
We will travel approximately 32km out
of the city, along Ingraham Trail, to a secluded viewing
destination. Here you can relax in northern comfort,
while having the opportunity to view the Aurora. This
evening tour also includes a northern snack of fish
chowder or caribou stew and fresh bannock.
Yellowknife is located directly under
the Aurora Oval, a narrow band encircling the polar
reaches of the globe in which the mysterious green lights
of the Aurora Borealis are at their most brilliant.
Coupled with its clear cold nights, this favorable geographic
location makes Yellowknife consistently one of the best
places in the world for Aurora viewing. That is why
Raven Tours has enjoyed a success rate of at least 95%
over the past five years among guests who have booked
three consecutive nights of viewing.

From our strategically located viewing
facilities that are out of town and far from any man-made
light, our guests can experience massive curtains of
light flashing dramatically across the night sky, swirling
and twisting into a magnificent corona. The Aurora Borealis,
or Northern Lights, are actually giant electrical storms
formed by solar flares from the sun reacting with the
earth's magnetic field. Although they are usually about
100-500 kilometers above the earth's upper atmosphere,
up here in Canada's North, our guests often feel that
they can reach out and touch them.
