A truly Canadian adventure... in our winter wonderland! Experience the various northern activities and learn about the history of the North.

One exciting activity on this tour is racing across frozen lakes on snowshoes. You'll hear the sound of fresh, crisp snow crunching under your feet. The snowshoe was traditionally used for hunting and traveling across the vast arctic frontier. They are made of birch bark and were adapted by the Dene people to travel on top of the snow, used to break trails and pack down snow for dogsleds.

Then become a kid again, as you slide on real sealskins down northern slopes. Seals have been a large part of northern life in higher areas of the arctic. They have been hunted for many years in the north as a source of food, and skins were used for clothing and to keep warmth. Hang on tight!

Marshmallow roasting around an open fire is always a favorite! You can also participate in our ice fishing demonstration, wildlife interpretation and information on northern trapping. The adventure site is complete with a black bear hide, musk ox hide and skull, moose antlers and ring seals.
