View northern wildlife in the sub-arctic!

This tour will give you the opportunity to fly out of Yellowknife across the barren lands to locate caribou and other wildlife.

Barren ground caribou number over 500,000 and migrate south from the Arctic coast during the fall season. The number of animals that you may see in a herd will vary, but usually average between 15-150 caribou at a time.

The caribou is called “tuktuk” by the Inuit people, “:ek-wo” by the dogrib people and were referred to as “reindeer” by European explorers. Barren-ground caribou have the largest antlers in relation to their body size of any species of deer in the world and are the only species in which the females grow antlers.

After locating caribou from the air, the plane, which is equipped with skis for landing on the snow and ice, will land giving you the opportunity to photograph these animals. Lunch is provided on this flight tour. Winter boots and appropriate clothing are mandatory.
